I found friendship and family in the most uncommon place,  in Rinret Gofwan- Dare. She called me Godmother and I called her my Rinret( it took me so long to call this name right for some reasons unknown)


I once heard Oprah winfery quoting  Maya Angelou that legacy is not in the children , houses or even foundation built . Legacy is in the heart of people you were able to impact on, it is in the heart of everyone that hears your story and makes a positive change , it is in the heart of everyone that choose to live because you lived despite the odds. My friend Rinret touched lives in very unusual ways and I am sure her story of tenacity, love , hope and faith  will be a resource for healing for a very long time .


She was my spiritual partner, we spoke about God and goodness , forgiveness , hope , we spoke about all. You must be wondering how a pastor Mrs and a mallama have so much in common but religion.


I will not say you left too soon, I choose to say you lived , you loved and you conquered. You lived so full to last everyone that knew you a lifetime. You were truly a representative of God on earth ( a vicegerent) . Your seed of goodness will keep germinating for generations. 


*Quran 15:46 Wealth and children are an ornament of the life of the world. But the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord's sight for reward, and better in respect of hope.*


You never held on to money unnecessarily , you kept investing in people, all the children you came in touch with were yours and you even turned us adult to your children. Rinret you lived for generations in such a short time.


You sent me a passionate letter on 1st of January and said goodbye in an unusual way

I replied Rinret  with equally kind words but she kept mute , she wanted it to end with her praising me.
*”I am blessed to have you in my corner” …RINRET*


Today I say I was blessed to have had you in
My life , in my corner , I loved you Rinret, and still do. 
My daughters , your girls are still in shock. I can’t tell one of them yet because I don’t know how. My family will miss you on Salah days and other days ….


I am blank still , so I know I will write more by God’s grace, I will write until your death is no longer painful but graceful.
